The CLIO Awards get MAD

4 May

This years CLIO awards are paying homage to the famous show MADMEN, the 60’s set show about the ad industry. I love the subtle play on the Youtube concept here called ‘Yourself Television’. Not only that but the sheer decadence and style mirrored from the time period and the show is astoundingly awesome. I love the amber tones, tailored suits, and art deco furniture. It is all pulled together so well I cannot wait for this thing called ‘Yourself Television’. Trust me, it’s gonna be the future.

RIDICULOUS is an Understatement

Oh wow, how can I began with this one. Well take Kobe Bryant, star of the Lakers, and pair him up with action movie director, Robert Rodriguez. What do you get? Explosions, overacting, and a whole lotta celebrities which you hope they didn’t spend too much money on. This looks like an online only video so it puzzles me that they could spend so much money on the production value of this short film/concept and still make a successful and somewhat profitable return. Maybe it’s that it is sooo ridiculous that it works. I’m kind of on the fence with this one but one thing is for sure… it got my full attention.

Watch Your Worries Fade Away

4 May

Watch your pimples disappear just as this little mind trick erases spots from your peripheral view. This is a great OXY ad that uses this technique to relay the product benefits by actually having you stare at a print ad for 20 seconds! That’s an amazing feat nowadays. Try it, the spots really do go away as you stare at it. I think this a very creative and successful ad so check it out. No really try it.

Creativity Loves Company

Here is another left and right brain ad my Mercedes Benz. It’s the same concept of showing the left brain as the logical side and right brain as the creative side. But let’s use one of the biggest masterminds of our time to get our point across and show how our cars are “The Best or Nothing”. Great decision Mercedes. Not only is it funny but greatly executes the overall idea with real portraits of Albert Einstein. Genius work for a genius portrait.

Here is an ad that’s seems to be homemade. It could be a creative team made to look like a home movie but let’s just go with home movie. There’s a blizzard. Now everyone panic and freak out. Here is where we see the true benefits in a car commercial. Your Audi can kickass in the snow so take it out in the blizzard of the year. You have a frickin R8, IronMan’s car! It’s a great simple ad that get’s straight to the point and shows off a beautiful car in the process. A+udi.

Be Very Afraid of the Internets

4 May

In this ad the International Society for Human Rights we have Kim Jong Il the leader of Communism in North Korea being scared of a mouse. What does this mean? Well the ISHR is an online organization that stands up for human rights and as we all know Il is one of the most suppressant leaders of the modern world. The ad portrays that the Society is pushed  and gains power the using the internet. The photoshop job itself is well done and very believable. It almost makes you think Kim Jong Il is really afraid of a mouse.

Ad Mag Does Ads the Right Way

This is a great info-graph advertisement about Adobo Magazine, which is a magazine about the world of advertising. I love the way they made the words form the Nike shoe while explaining how the Nike logo was made. It had no idea it was from an art student so this ad really drew me into looking up the magazine. The typography is definitely customized to fit the words the right way and the shadows subtly help it look almost real.
